QNX Integrates DSP/BIOS Link from TI

QNX Software Systems today announced it has adopted the DSP/BIOS(TM) Link technology from Texas Instruments to integrate and redistribute with the QNX® Neutrino® real-time operating system (RTOS). The arrangement will allow QNX to take advantage of the high- performance, low power consumption capabilities of Texas Instruments' dual- core OMAP(TM) platform for multimedia-enhanced devices. The first implementation runs on the OMAP5910 applications processor available in volume production today.

VMWare driver for QNX 6

With the permission from the author (a QSS staffer), I am pleased to announce the QNX6 graphic driver for VMWare, available here. The package includes a graphics driver for Photon and a vmtool for accessing VMWare information (date, clipboard, etc.)

Untar and follow instructions in the README file.

You MUST be using 6.2.1 full install (core only installation will not work)

The author might release this on developer.qnx.com if time allows (they are all very busy working QNX 6.3).

QNX 6 NTFS Driver v0.4 Released

After almost a half year's development, Alexander Domo releases the version 0.40 of NTFS driver for QNX 6. You can download the QNX binary package or the source code. The write support is still experimental but the read support is very stable and works well under QNX. For details, visit Domo's site at http://domo.qnx.org.ru/indexe.htm

Unpax and follow instruction in the README file. In addition to the README instruction, setuid Pg.vmware and run crttrap clear.

The author might release this on developer.qnx.com if time allows (they are all very busy working QNX 6.3).

How to Install QNX 6.2.1 under FAT Partition

QNX 6.2.1 setup.exe removed the capability of installation into a Windows FAT partition. This article tries to provide a manual way to have QNX installed under FAT partition, with or without burning a CD.

Prerequisite:

This article talks about installing QNX 6 under FAT, so you will need at least one FAT partition where you can put QNX. If your primary Windows partition is NTFS, you will need to create another partition using FAT. In the following text, we just call the chosen FAT drive X:

Mozilla firebird/thunderbird QNX package updates

Adrian Mardare has just updated the mozilla firebird/thunderbird packages for QNX 6. Download them at http://www.qnxzone.com/~amardare/mozilla/1.5/
Here is a list of the changes:
- the thread leakeage in firebird and thunderbird is fixed
- the crash in mozilla1.5 ( when a new window is opened ) is fixed.
- Copy Link Location in the context menus is fixed.
- clicking on a link in thunderbird works now.
- clicking on a mailto: link in firebird works now.
- Shift + Tab ( reverse tab ) works now
- the firebird launch command will attach to a running instance if any.
- the antialiased fonts are gone.

QNX Extends Education Program to Include Intel Embedded Hardware Solutions

Universities in Europe and Asia will soon have access to advanced embedded solutions equipment, thanks to a new program introduced last week by QNX Software Systems. Qualifying institutions will receive hardware platforms ranging from Ultra Low Voltage Intel® Celeron® processor-based systems to server-class Dual Processor Intel Pentium?III processor systems from Intel.The program was announced at the QNX Russia 2003 conference.
