QNX Software Systems today announced it has adopted the DSP/BIOS(TM) Link technology from Texas Instruments to integrate and redistribute with the QNX® Neutrino® real-time operating system (RTOS). The arrangement will allow QNX to take advantage of the high- performance, low power consumption capabilities of Texas Instruments' dual- core OMAP(TM) platform for multimedia-enhanced devices. The first implementation runs on the OMAP5910 applications processor available in volume production today. QNX will integrate DSP/BIOS Link into the QNX Neutrino multimedia framework, which supports graphics- and content-rich applications. The QNX Neutrino RTOS will reside on the ARM core of the OMAP platform and use DSP/BIOS Link to offload specific tasks such as multimedia to the DSP.
