Booting from Flash

Postby Guest » Fri Aug 30, 2002 5:49 pm

I am having a custom X86 based board with bios & AmdFlash, Floppy drive etc.... I customised theFlash driver for it from sc400 bsp. I am able to boot from the Floppy (image in floppy)& then if i run the flash driver i can use the flash ie mount it, copy etc. Now i want to put my Image in Flash & boot from it. How can i go about it. I am using the bios.

If you are using the BIOS you will have to look and see if the BIOS supports booting from the on-board flash. If not, then you can't do it.

Normally what people do is they replace the BIOS with a new IPL that sets up the board and runs the kernel out of flash.
