Good news for qnx/linux users. There are finally some qnxfs updates in the linux kernel. Based on this LWN article, the following two changes were made into the development kernel prepatch 2.5.47-ac6:

* Switch qnxfs to new style initializers (Art Haas)

* Recongize qnx v6 file systems (Anders Larsen)

The QNX as a server for small networks project on the Russian QNX Portal has recently updated. You can find the new Squid, Bind 9.2.1, dhcp 3.0p1, Jabber 1.4.2 and Pth 1.4.1. Also available there is the TCP Proxy toolkit. qnx.org.ru has been doing a great job on providing quality software to the QNX community.

QNX Software Systems today announced that Motorola has chosen the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS to assist in the development of a telematics control unit (TCU) being built by Motorola Automotive. Motorola's innovative TCU product - which will be deployed in a line of European luxury cars later this year - utilizes automotive-grade software to give drivers access to cellphone communication technology.

iDEFENS just released iDEFENSE Security Advisory 11.08.02b in which they disclosed the Non-Explicit Path Vulnerability in QNX Neutrino RTOS. Since a setuid root application packager within QNX inappropriately executes external applications without using their full paths, local attackers can potentially obtain root privilege. The exploit code is also published in the Security Advisory.

ITTIA announced yesterday the release of the RDMi version 3.2 data access tool for Raima Database Manager (RDM). With the release of RDMi 3.2, ITTIA raises the bar in all areas of support. Now the read/write data access features of RDMi are available for applications based on RDM versions 6.x, 5.x and 4.x. Even applications developed with db.vista 3.21 are supported for ODBC read operations.
