National Instruments Measurement Hardware DDK Available for QNX 6

Symmetry Innovations Pty Ltd today announced the availability of the National Instruments (NI) Measurement Hardware Driver Development Kit (DDK) for QNX Neutrino v6.x. Symmetry Innovations first developed the software for a major defence contractor in the Australian market. The software takes full advantage of the QNX microkernel architecture for a reliable and flexible solution for customers. Based on the Linux measurement hardware DDK, it has been tuned specifically for QNX and enhanced to support the DAQCard (PC card) versions of the NI hardware, in addition to the standard PCI card support.The measurement hardware DDK provides full source code and example programs.

OpenSSH Package Updated

Due to a security issue with OpenSSH pre-3.7.0, a new package has been made. For now you can access it from

http://qnx.wox.org/packages/6.2.x/openssh-3.7.0p1-x86-public.qpr, and it will show up in the QNX Online repository in the next day or two.

Update: Seems that 12 hours after the 3.7.0p1 pacakge was up, openssh.com released 3.7.1p1. It is now packaged and in the same location http://qnx.wox.org/packages/6.2.x/

Xilinx Ships World's Highest Capacity & Capability FPGA

Xilinx today announced that it is shipping the world's highest capacity field programmable gate array (FPGA) with 430 million transistors -- the Virtex-II Pro(TM) XC2VP100 Platform FPGA. As a platform for advanced processor-based SOC designs, the entire Virtex- II Pro family is the first and only FPGA line fully supported by leading embedded operating systems such as VXWorks, MontaVista Linux, QNX, and NetBSD.

Embedded Systems Conference Boston 2003 Booth #315: Parvus(R) Corp. of Salt Lake City, today announced the launch of its SpacePC(R) line of PC/104 and PC/104-Plus CPU boards with a free product evaluation for designers of embedded computer systems.

The initial SpacePC product line includes six x86 (Intel(R)) compatible processor cards, ranging in speed from 40MHz (3x86) to 300MHz (Pentium(R) class). An ultra low-power 800MHz Pentium(R) III board is also slated for production later this year. Broad software support for these compact (3.550" x 3.775") single board computers (SBC) includes ROM-DOS(TM), QNX(R), Windows 95/98(R), Windows NT(R), Windows CE(R), VxWorks(R), and Linux(R) drivers.

Daewoo selects QNX for in-car navigation system

QNX Software Systems today announced that Daewoo Precision Industries has selected the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS) as the foundation for its next generation of in-car navigation systems. A centerpiece in Daewoo's VisionJoy line of vehicle information systems, the navigation system is available today in Korea through Daewoo's network of automotive retailers.

KillerIRC 0.4.6 Released

Chris McKillop (a.k.a cdm) has released KillerIRC 0.4.6 at http://killerstuff.net/killerIRC. KillerIRC is a native QNX photon based IRC client. The new version has the following changes:

o Fixed some small UI issues.

o Added a close button to all the windows and turned off the tab-level close button for channel/query windows.

o Changed default server to irc.freenode.org.

o Using an newer YAIL that pings idle connections.

PC/104-based industrial computing platform runs QNX

Sealevel Systems, a well known supplier of communications and I/O interfaces to the embedded and industrial computing markets, just unveiled its first ready-to-deploy industrial controller platform. The new 2U rackmount compatible "Relio" controller is based on Intel's 650 or 400 MHz Mobile Celeron processor.

Sealevel said that it supports Microsoft's XP Embedded and CE .NET, VxWorks, and TimeSys Embedded Linux on the system, in addition to QNX.
