Eclipse got a lift: QNX Donates Source Code to Eclipse.org

Submitted by heman on

Basd on QNX Website, QNX Software Systems is contributing source code from selected C/C++ tools in the QNX® Momentics® development suite to Eclipse.org. The QNX technology will be used to enhance the C/C++ Development Tools (CDT) Project for the Eclipse platform and will help build an extensible, industry-standard framework for integrating tools from a variety of C/C++ tools vendors.

Some of QNX's code has already been moved into Eclipse's CVS repository under the org.eclipse.cdt.core and org.eclipse.cdt.ui components. This code represents QSSL's core C/C++ tooling, including the core model, builder, editor, C view and so on, and compiles and runs on Eclipse 2.0. Debugger will come later because the debugger components will require significant re-architecting to meet the new goals of the CDT. A lot of re-planning, architecture and API definition is going to happen over the next month.
