SANTA CLARA, Calif., EclipseCON, March 21, 2006 - QNX Software Systems today announced Alain Magloire was named a winner of an Eclipse Community Award as the Top Committer for his contributions to the Eclipse Foundation's CDT Project, the successful and fast-growing open source project for C and C++ development.
Magloire, a software developer in the QNX development tools group, was selected by his peers for the work he has done with the CDT community, a project he has worked with since its inception. Magloire supports the community through numerous code contributions and frequent advice on newsgroups, blogs, and bugzilla.
QNX was also honored for its use of Eclipse technology. The widely popular QNX® Momentics® development suite was named a finalist for an Eclipse Community Award for the Best Commercial Eclipse-based Development Tool.
QNX is a founding member of Eclipse and project lead of the C/C++ Development Tools (CDT) Project. The company has led the CDT Project since its inception and has contributed more code to the CDT than any other company. Through QNX's leadership, the CDT has, in four short years, grown from an interesting open-source dialog to the de facto standard for embedded development tools and other C and C++ projects.
"There isn't a more deserving individual than Alain Magloire to receive the first Top Committer Award from Eclipse, for his dedication and commitment to furthering the advancement of Eclipse C and C++ development tools," according to Doug Schaefer, senior tools developer, QNX Software Systems and CDT Project leader. "Today, with more than 70,000 downloads, CDT 3.0 has become one of the most popular Eclipse-based integrated development environments available today."
