LAS VEGAS, 2005 Consumer Electronics Show, January 6, 2005 - QNX Software Systems today announced that JVC, a world leader in audio and video consumer products, has chosen the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS) to power a new DVD receiver and monitor for in-car use.The latest infotainment device from JVC for the automotive aftermarket, the receiver offers "dual zone" capability for front and back seat simultaneous operation, a detachable monitor, and a 5.1 channel audio system. To give the unit its high reliability and automotive-grade performance, JVC took advantage of many QNX software innovations, including a highly modular embedded windowing system, a code-generating application builder, easy-to-customize user-interface controls, and advanced multi-language support.

Rapid Application Development for JVC Engineers
The QNX Momentics® application builder enabled JVC developers to reduce time-consuming programming tasks, allowing them to focus on quality design instead. For instance, the application builder lets developers create complete, full-featured user interfaces - without having to write a line of code. It also features a rich palette of easy-to-customize user controls and a language editor that lets a single application binary support multiple international languages.
Other QNX features that reduced JVC's development time included high-speed message passing, which made it easy to synchronize the device's multiple software programs, and full POSIX support, which allowed engineers with Unix/Linux experience to become productive almost immediately.

Availability
The new DVD receiver and monitor is shipping today in Europe (Model KD-AV 7001), Asia (Model KD-AV 7005), and Japan (Model KD-PAV 7000), and is expected to be available in the United States (Model KD-AV 7010) in early 2005.
