OTTAWA, November 30, 2004 - QNX Software Systems today announced it is a new member of the ARM® Connected Community. As part of the community, QNX will gain access to a full range of resources to help it market and deploy innovative ARM Powered® platform offerings in key industries such as networking/communications and in-car telematics. The QNX® Neutrino® RTOS supports multiple ARM RISC microprocessor cores, including numerous Intel XScale processors and the Texas Instruments' OMAP platform for multimedia-enhanced devices. The networking and in-car telematics markets are ideally suited for QNX/ARM platforms, which offer a field-proven combination of low power consumption, advanced memory protection, high performance, and a small footprint.

"The QNX Neutrino RTOS offers the fault tolerance, dynamic scalability, and modular architecture needed to enable the increasingly sophisticated applications being deployed on the ARM architecture," said Shelley Bryen, strategic alliances manager, QNX Software Systems. "QNX's expertise in high-availability, multiprocessing systems for the netcoms industry, and in power management for the telematics industry, makes the company an ideal provider of embedded solutions to developers using the ARM architecture to build their next-generation devices."

The ARM Connected Community is a global network of companies aligned to provide a complete solution, from design to manufacture to end use, for products based on the ARM architecture. ARM offers a variety of resources to community members, including promotional programs and peer-networking opportunities that enable ARM Partners to jointly provide end-to-end customer solutions.

"The ARM community welcomes QNX because of their history of developing high-performance and highly reliable realtime operating systems for mission-critical computing environments," said Wayne Lyons, director of Embedded Solutions at ARM. "By joining the ARM Connected Community, QNX Software Systems can work even more closely with ARM, speeding delivery of key new features and benefits to end users."
