QNX Software Systems today announced it has been presented the Ottawa Center for Research and Innovation (OCRI) Award, an honor bestowed on a local company whose activities and accomplishments have significantly enhanced the technological competitiveness and international profile of Ottawa. QNX received the award at the ninth annual OCRI gala awards dinner, April 7. Nominations were submitted by OCRI members and then screened by the Society of Canadian Office Automation Professionals (SCOAP).In 1980, Gordon Bell and Dan Dodge co-founded QNX Software Systems in Ottawa, and their flagship product, the QNX® Neutrino® microkernel realtime operating system (RTOS), quickly became the OS of choice for mission-critical applications in the newly emerging microcomputer market.
