As a followup to our earlier post, overall Best of Show winner at the 2004 Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) and six category winners were announced today.Wind River was named the overall Best of Show winner at the 2004 Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) for its full-scale replica of the VxWorks-based Mars Rover. Category winners were also announced for six device categories.
Automotive/Transportation: Texas Instruments, for a self-navigating vehicle assembled by the Digital Auto Drive organization that recently competed in the DARPA Challenge. The vehicle uses two of TIs DSPs enabling the vehicle to "see" and make decisions about direction and obstacle avoidance.
Consumer Electronics: Toshiba, for its TX4926 64-bit microprocessor in the HomePod Wireless Digital Stereo from Macsense Connectivity Inc., which lets users send MP3 music files stored on a Macintosh, Windows or Linux computer to other playback devices anywhere within the home.
Industrial: Applied Data Systems, for presenting Macrovision Corp.'s Nomad Expert Technician System, a wireless wearable computer currently used by automotive service technicians to superimpose text and diagrams from electronic service manuals.
Instrumentation: Agilent Technologies, for its technology in the B4655A, which is the first commercially available dynamic probe application for logic analyzer-based debug of FPGAs.
Communications: Wind River, for their VXWorks and communications protocols demonstrated in the Intellisar system from the Weather Channel Intellistar, which has the ability to select content based on its relevance to a particular viewing area.

Analog Devices for a BMW Z4, which uses embedded technology to provide a multimedia driving experience, in-car professional Navigation System with visual display, speech processing, and GPS. Booth 1902.
Applied Data Systems, for RoninCast, a visual communication system that wirelessly dispatches user-scheduled digital content to multiple displays in widely dispersed remote locations. Booth 2726.
QNX Software Systems will exhibit InFocus's LiteShow, a "connect and project," zero-configuration wireless projection system. Booth 2542.
Applied Data Systems, for the Wurlitzer Digital Jukebox, an elegant yet sophisticated digital home audio device with a simple user interface. Booth 2726.
Xilinx, for the Sensio 3D video processing system that brings the 3D stereoscopic movie experience to home theaters. Booth 1326.
Newport Electronics, for the iTHX-M, a real-time temperature and humidity monitor with network and Web interfaces. Booth 2722.
Tektronix, for a TDS7000B Series oscilloscope with Silicon Germanium (SiGe)-based triggering system and DPX technology. Booth 820.
Nallatech, for the BenNUEY-PC104, a high-speed disk storage system based on the PC/104Plus standard. Booth 1041.
