LAS VEGAS, Consumer Electronics Show, January 5, 2006 - Whether it's song titles, CD artwork, or musical repertoires, today's consumers are looking for usability, flexibility, and transportability of their digital media experience. QNX Software Systems and All Media Guide (AMG) are helping to link the world of digital entertainment to the automobile, and are demonstrating their market-leading technologies during the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
QNX, the leading provider of operating system software for today's in-car computing devices, and AMG, a provider of entertainment descriptive content and content-management technology, will jointly demonstrate their solutions for such automotive infotainment applications as digital and hard-drive radios.
Using the QNX® Neutrino® high-performance realtime operating system, AMG's LASSO embedded software product can search the table of contents files contained in a CD or digital music file. Using the QNX Photon® microGUI® windowing system, AMG's LASSO can then display data ranging from artist, song title, and musical genre to lists of similar albums and web links for cover art. The demonstration, which will be shown to select customers during CES, is built upon the Freescale MPC 5200 processor.
Tier 1 manufacturers are already using the powerful combination of QNX's automotive-grade operating system and AMG's multiple media-recognition capabilities. In addition to managing user-playback information, new in-car systems will build playlists based on criteria defined by the consumer, or by recognizing music patterns and preferences. These capabilities will be demonstrated at the Delphi Corporation booth during CES.
"The rapid acceptance of digital music and entertainment has drastically changed consumer habits and expectations. As that shift moves into the car, there is a tremendous need for robust and media-rich software systems to power this new generation of in-car radios and entertainment systems," said Andrew Poliak, automotive alliances manager for QNX Software Systems. "Partnerships like the one between QNX and AMG are critical to ensuring that consumers experience digital media in a fast, reliable, and intuitive manner."
"The future of media management on the go is now," said Andrew Stess, vice president of consumer electronics for All Media Guide. "Matching the quality and depth of our data and technology with a company like QNX is a win for the consumer."
