how to make syslogd talk to Linux syslogd

Post by Henry » Wed Jan 07, 2004 9:49 am

How do I make syslogd under QNX 4.25 speak to a Linux machine running a
"BSD standard" syslogd via UDP port 514? Is it true that QNX syslogd
prefers to use a qnx-proprietary protocol to communicate to remote
syslogd processes?

Thanks in advance,

You can start with this
QNX in /etc/syslog.conf:
* @linux_host_ip_make_it_numeric_for_the_beginning

On a linux machine run syslogd with option that enables logging from
other hosts. look onto your man pages since it depends on a system you use.
________ Later ________
Look for help about syslog.conf on your QNX machine:
http://www.qnx.com/developer/docs/qnx_4 ... slogd.html

Indeed, you can use syslogd on other QNX node too - just setup SYSLOG
environment variable. The same way you can use IP stack on other QNX
node - set SOCK.
