Changing over from Old PC to New

Post by Rob Hunt » Mon Apr 15, 2002 1:24 pm

Hello,

I work for a company that owns hydro-electric generating plants throughout
North America. At one of these plants we are using QNX as the operating
system to run RealFlex SCADA software. The PC has been in service for 7
years and running 24/7 so we are now becoming concerned with the remaining
life of the PC. Our current plan is to provide a back-up PC with the
software already setup. Once a problem is experienced with the older PC,
change-out from old to new would be a simple process.

Our version of QNX is windows version 2.3 release 4 and the OLWM is version
1.43/qnx. The software is running on a Compaq Prosignia with a dx4/100
processor.

What factors should I be aware of? I plan to purchase a new PC and install
the existing set-up using a tape back-up of the older PC. I have never used
QNX before so I would like to head-off any trouble spots before they arise.

Can anyone provide me with some guidance?

Thanks to all,

Rob

You will have to be a little more clear about the version.
There is a product called QNX windows, but its version is
not of much importance.

You might have either a version of QNX 2, hopefully 2.21, or
QNX 4, hopefully 4.25. OLWM sounds like part of QNX
Windows, which could be running on either of these QNX
versions. I know MS has helped add confusion to this issue
but insisting that their GUI is their OS.
