SAE WORLD CONGRESS (DETROIT) - QNX Software Systems today announced that four tier-one automotive suppliers have selected the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS) for several next-generation, in-car navigation systems now available in the Korean and Chinese markets. With these commercial deployments, QNX is rapidly emerging as the OS of choice for infotainment and navigation systems in the Asian market. To better serve the rapidly evolving auto industry in Asia and particularly China where production of automotive units grew nearly 40 percent in 2003, QNX is also introducing new Chinese character code fonts to ensure easy customization between geographic markets and languages.
QNX is now working with LG Electronics, Hyundai Autonet, Hyundai Mobis, IBM Korea, and NAVIS to bring the most advanced infotainment systems with simple, intuitive user interfaces to consumers in Asia. In 2004, QNX software will be found in vehicle models from automakers such as Daewoo, Hyundai, and Ssangyong.
