From 18th to 24th March at CeBIT 2004 in Hanover, NAVIGON GmbH will present an automotive product innovation - instantly turning a car radio into a navigation system. NAVIGON will be presenting the implementation of this innovation in conjunction with QNX Neutrino, the automotive operating system. As a partner and supplier for the development of driver assistance systems, NAVIGON has already made a name for itself in the car industry with MEDAS, the abbreviation for "Map Engine for Driver Assistance Systems". The program interacts with existing assistance and safety systems, including curve warning systems, intelligent lighting and adaptive gear control, and ensures that these are constantly aware of the current road situation, thereby considerably increasing the performance of such systems.
At CeBIT NAVIGON will also be exhibiting another product innovation that is of particular interest to manufacturers of car radios and infotainment systems: a navigation software library for processors and operating systems reflecting the present standard in automotive series production. The navigation software library can be installed in an infotainment system as original equipment or in an aftermarket car radio, transforming both of these into a full navigation system. This allows car radio manufacturers or suppliers to integrate NAVIGON's navigation product in their system without having to develop their own navigation competence. At CeBIT NAVIGON will be presenting the implementation of this innovation in conjunction with QNX Neutrino, the automotive operating system.
