Tridium to use QNX Neutrino RTOS for Next-Generation Niagara Framework

TAMPA, FL. May 3, 2004 - Tridium, Inc., a leader in software for realtime control applications, and QNX Software Systems, a developer of real-time operating systems, have announced an agreement where Tridium will use the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system bundled with IBM's WebSphere Custom Environment. The QNX and IBM bundled offering will be delivered in NiagaraAX, Tridium's next generation of the Niagara Framework. Niagara is a software framework designed to address the challenge of integrated control in environments that contain diverse smart devices.

QNX 6.3 Beta 2 Begins

QNX Software Systems started the next and largest round of beta testing on the upcoming 6.3 release of their current software. This round includes both customers and members of the user community who have made significant contributions. Unfortunately for those who are still interested, it is a closed beta, so you will have to find someone who is part of it and ask them what they think. This beta round takes the software that much closer to an expected 2nd quarter release.

C-Kermit 8.0.211 Released

This is to announce C-Kermit 8.0.211 (10 Apr 2004), superseding

This is primarily a stability and update release, incorporating
support for several new platforms including: OpenVMS 8.1 / IA64, FreeBSD 4.9 and 5.1, Mac OS X 10.3.

QNX 4 and QNX 6 binaries can be found at http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/ckbinaries.html along with hundreds of other prebuilt C-Kermit 8.0.211 binaries.

QNX Honored as Ottawa's High Tech Global Ambassador

QNX Software Systems today announced it has been presented the Ottawa Center for Research and Innovation (OCRI) Award, an honor bestowed on a local company whose activities and accomplishments have significantly enhanced the technological competitiveness and international profile of Ottawa. QNX received the award at the ninth annual OCRI gala awards dinner, April 7.

Groff 1.19 XPDF 3.0 Ported to QNX 6

Andy just released his Groff 1.19 and XPDF 3.0 port to QNX 6. Groff is a typesetting package which reads plain text mixed with formatting commands and produces formatted output. The utilities in the port have the support of Russian language.

Also released and available on Andy's site is v3.0 of XPDF, an X Window based PDF file viewer.
